Want your kids to play music more? Don't pack up their instruments when they are done practicing, find a place to leave them out! The more visible and accessible the instrument is, the more it will be played.
Instruments can also be nice decor- there are some great wall hangers for string instruments, or floor stands. Find an antique music stand that adds to the room (that one is a bit advanced, but so cool when you see them!). Even if you are using a small keyboard to start, try to leave it set up so that it will be used throughout the day.
If you eliminate the steps of packing and unpacking the instrument it is much more likely to be used!
